All you need is milk, chocolate, sugar, and eggs to make a sumptuous chocolate custard pudding. This remarkable easy desserts can be dressed and decorated in numberless ways to impress important guests like your boss, your clients, or your loved one.
Puddings are often thickened with cornstarch or other starchy equivalent while custard is set with eggs. Both pudding and custard can either be boiled and chilled or cooked on the stovetop and baked in the oven. In these healthy recipes, the chocolate is melted in the saucepan and combined with milk. The egg, flour, and sugar are mixed together until smooth and fluffy and the melted chocolate is added to the egg mixture and blended well together. The whole thing is then placed in pudding cups, custard cups or ramekins and placed in a water bath then baked in the oven.
The egg mixture should be added to the chocolate mixture off the heat. This is to ensure that the eggs do not coagulate or turn into scrambled eggs. Stir the mixture constantly to prevent lumps from forming. You can use an eggbeater or a wooden spoon. If there are any lumps or grains, pass the mixture through a sieve to get rid of any granules or specks like eggshells.
If cooked correctly the chocolate custard pudding will turn out like little chocolate volcanoes with a thin crisp surface on top that is just beginning to crack, revealing the warm and gooey chocolate goodness inside. You can serve the pudding in tiny elegant glasses or ramekins, which you can use for baking the custard pudding. Top the individual pudding with whipped cream and slices of fresh fruits like strawberries, oranges, or bananas for an attractive presentation. Although it is already quite heavenly on its own, just dig in with a dessertspoon.
